The Patch
Described by Katelyn Clews

This is definatly one of the most emotional articles i have read by McPhee yet. It is a step in another direction from what hisarticles

usually intale. His other articles are usually ones in which he takes an interesting topic to himself, outs himself into the position to

experience it, and wirtes about it. Things that are his doing. In these articles you find McPhees usual humour, and writing style. In

this article though McPhee gives us a closer look into his like, and past with his father, and doesnt withhold on the emotion he

feels.

This article is not only about his love for fishing when he was a child. But also his relationship with his father, and the death of him.

McPhee immediatly begins this piece with him describing in depth the the image of were he is. Out on the lake fishing, you will see

the floating lily pads, other fishermen, it seems to be nothing but a relaxing get away. It seems to me as though fishing is his

getaway from the world of struggles. Like his father dieing. But also a reminder of great memories with his father.
